Guerrilla - Marketing - Tool: Streetbranding

Thursday evening. Excitement next to the van. A last check: do we have everything? The power washer, 1000 litres of water and a steel stencil. Someone brings pylons, protective helmets and safety vests. Then our streetbranding operation can begin (here is the whole story)

Streetbranding comes from “branding”. Branding usually describes burning a brandmark onto an animal. Streetbranding is not about branding in the literal sense, but it is a kind of branding made by partially cleaning certain objects, creating a contrast between dirt and cleaned spots and thus is a new form of art and advertising.

The advantage of this is not only in the details. There are also positive side effects. Graffiti is of course an effective means of advertising, but it is limited in the fact that it is illegal and unfortunately also permanent. Streetbranding, where dirty objects such as bridges, concrete pillars, outdoor walls etc. are partially cleaned, does not violate any legal regulations.
